“Listen to the Rhythm of the Fallin’ Rain”

with one comment

The jokes on me! It seems I spoke too soon about being the bearer of sunshine. Perhaps the karma gods thought I should be put back in my place. I’m thinking, however, they may gone a bit overboard in their quest to teach me not to be so cocky! My waterfall couple (thank goodness they don’t mind getting wet!) were married on Saturday. I bet they would agree standing in the waterfalls wasn’t nearly as drenching as the down pouring of rain that fell throughout the day. As you will see, the joy, laughter, love and spirit of this happy couple could not be dampened even with the torrential rains that fell between times of heavy mist.

As I unload from what is a nightmare of a day for any wedding photographer… not just the rain but the lack of indoor space, the soggy outdoor spaces that exist only under a drippy awning, and the persistant foggy haze that masks the beauty of the Miramichi River… I realize that the necessity to shoot closely framed photographs, the water droplets, the flat lighting, and the dreamlike quality of the scenery create some spectacular wedding photographs that I may have missed under ordinary circumstances!

To Melissa and John – may you have a lifetime as filled with the patience, understanding, and optimism under the most difficult of times as you had on your wedding day.

I am Cursed!

without comments

Or blessed… depends on your point of view. Seems bright, sunny, warm days (well in this case HOT!) follow me. One thing is for sure – I certainly have mastered the difficult skill of taking well exposed portraits under the most challenging outdoor lighting conditions. And the expression “Don’t let ‘em see you sweat” takes on an entirely new meaning on days like these. As you can see in a previous post, the sun even breaks through in full force at just the right time. Even if it pours shortly thereafter!

The extremely hot and humid conditions could not put a damper on the beautiful August wedding of Samantha and J-C. Although I wouldn’t have wanted to be the one wearing a tuxedo, vest, and all the trimmings! Kudos to you J-C for being such a patient sport. After all, I did tell you both the object is to be beautiful … not comfortable. The bride most certainly was beautiful!! Hopefully I made you feel as comfortble as possible.

If you want the sun to shine on your wedding day, I may be just the photographer you need!
